The MovieWorld Experience

Recently, I had the pleasure of going to Warner Brothers MovieWorld, on behalf of Tourism Queensland, to create an interesting blog aimed at Young adults. MovieWorld is a place for all, thrill seekers, families or school groups, but in particular, Young Adults. Movieworld certainly delivers, with tonnes of fun packed into one place; you’ll want to spend the rest of your life at Hollywood at the Gold Coast.

Rides at MovieWorld:
The Superman Escape is an “Intamin Accelerator Coater”, which is made obvious to riders as it speeds up from 0 – 100 km/hr in 2 seconds! It is the fastest ride at MovieWorld, and definitely sends adrenaline rushing through your veins. Another Ride for the thrill seekers is the Batman Arkham Asylum (previously known as The Lethal Weapon). This ride a variety of different twists and turns ands its “nickname” The Shock Therapy really does live up to its expectations. Newly opened ride, the Green lantern holds 2 unique awards: Steepest drop on any roller coaster in the Southern Hemisphere and tying for 1st steepest in the world with the “Takabisha” both with a 121 degree angled drop!! Unfortunately, the Batwing Space shot, a ride that shoots riders 200ft into the air, was closed when I was visiting the park, but that just meant more time for other rides!

Events:
One event that is of notable entertainment is MovieWorld’s “Fright Nights”. These nights are spread across all of October and are centred around Halloween. This event started as a one night only event in 2006, and has evolved into a multi night event stretched across all of October. Each year has had a theme to it, and although 2012’s theme hasn’t been released, Themeparks.com.au has released this information: “This October Fright Night’s at Movie World invites you to awaken your inner zombie”. This could suggest a zombie theme, which hasn’t been seen at Movieworld as an overall theme, only themes to shows. In previous years, there has been a variety of different mazes at Movieworld. One which has been making consistent returns is the SAW maze, based off the Horror/Thriller SAW movies. Each ride in the park will most probably be open, except for the children’s rides rides at the Kids WB zone. This event is always a hit with Young Adults as almost all the themes are interesting to that age group. The nights are always deliver with fun and fright and if you go you are sure to enjoy yourself.

Safety:
Now, we all know how many Hormones are flowing through the body of a Young Adult, and that, especially males, like to run around a bit and get rough, which then can lead to broken Bones. At MovieWorld, all of the rides each have certain safety regulations for each ride, most of which happen to be the same. Some of the rules that pop up among all the main rides a MovieWorld are: Keep all hands and feet inside the ride at all times, if you are pregnant then you may not go on this ride, if you have back problems you may not go on this ride, and of course, the dreaded height restriction. Of course, these rules are all here for the safety of riders, but can be a little bit annoying sometimes.

General Info:
For one days admission to MovieWorld, it is only $49, if you are a student or $79 if you are not. This includes access to rides, the 4d show and the Stunt driver show. Some options available at MovieWorld for lunch are: The Wild West Burgers, Gotham city cafe, Arthur’s bakery, and Ricks Cafe. But the most well known eatery at MovieWorld would have to be the Dirty Harry Bar, a restaurant that is themed towards the Dirty Harry franchise of movies. “Feel lucky? Go ahead, make your day! Grab a drink, sit back and watch the movie that made Clint Eastwood famous in this homely San Francisco style bar.” (2012, http://www.movieworld.com.au/food-and-shopping/food.aspx) If you still have room for desert, then there’s a few options available, Sweet Treats, Ben and Jerry’s and everyone’s favorite, Churros! If you want to leave with something special, there is a variety of different shops, all uniquely themed. There is always a shop that you have to walk through on exiting a ride, which is themed to the specific ride, these shops are always filled with clothes, bags and many more different types of merchandise.

MovieWorld is always looking for new potential in the park. One job that is currently available is a Food and beverage attendant. This job is for people that might be looking at getting a job in hospitality, or just looking for their first full time job.
